Items:Weapons: Front

From Auto Assault Wiki

Front weapons are just that - weapons that mount on the front of your vehicle, that will fire within a fixed arc in the front of your vehicle. The size of this arc is determined by two factors: the range of the weapon, expressed in meters, and the Firing Angle, expressed as a degree of arc.

This is shown graphically by the TacArc displayed in front of your vehicle. The TacArc is a cone extending from the front of your vehicle that shows the area a weapon will fire in once the fire command is given. Anything within the cone can be hit, with priority being given to the selected target, if there is one (the "hard" target). If a enemy gets between you and your hard target though, that enemy will be hit.

Front weapons can be of the same types as other weapons in the game, and share the same characteristics of size and damage types. As a general rule, front-mounted weapons and turret weapons of the same name share the same characteristics; i.e. a Sawblade Launcher (turret) will be the same as a Sawblade Launcher (front), within the rules of the game.

Front weapons can be either single-target (will only hit one enemy within their firing arc) or Spray (will hit x enemies within their firing arc, x being expressed in the tooltip for the weapon), i.e. a weapon with a "3 Target Spray" can hit 3 targets at the same time within it's firing arc.

As of this writing (5/3/06) it is still unknown whether a weapon's rated Damage per Second (DPS) is applied equally to all targets in a spray, or if it is split across the targets. For a 8 DPS weapon with a 2 target spray, this means that it is unknown whether both targets are hit at 8 DPS apeice (applied equally) or at 4 DPS apeice (split).
