Embiggening Spoon Algorithms...
This is a dual reference. "embiggen" is a made up word from the TV show "The Simpsons" from the Springfield town motto, "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man."
The spoon portion is probably a reference to an animated short, "Rejected" by Don Hertzfeldt. In this a stick figure repeatedly proclaims that his "spoon is too big".
Urge to kill rising
"I didn't see this as a Simpsons quote, but more a Mystery Men reference, specifically, something Mr. Furious would say." -Dystopian
I'm not sure about Mystery Men, but "urge to kill rising" is often said by Alice in the Dilbert comic. (usually said while trying to restrain her "fist of death") -Cholma

Tightening graphics on level 3
This is a reference to an early nineties commercial for becoming a videogame tester. It was downright hilarious. It featured 2 kids around age 18-20 playing videogames on a couch, spewing such smarmy lines as "Wow, when you said we could get a job playing videogames, I couldn't believe my ears!" or something to that effect. Then some lady comes around the corner and asks how it's going, and one of them responds "The graphics on level 3 need tightening", to which she nods and walks away. I don't think I've laughed harder in my life. This was also on ytmnd.com. I swear whoever puts these loading screens in is a YTMND user. Fess up buddy!

A Saturday Night Live skit including Christopher Walken and Will Farrell. It's a documentary on Blue Oyster Cult recording "Fear the Reaper", and Walken (playing the genius producer) keeps suggesting they add more cowbell, which will lead the song to its impending success.
Jumping Sharks...
Refers to the two-part episode of Happy Days, when Fonzy is preparing to literally jump a pool full of sharks. They ended the first episode with a still frame of him just at the top of the ramp, and started the next one finishing the clip of him successfully jumping the shark. Since then, Jumping the Shark is a term used to described when a television show, or any other production, begins to pull dangerously cheesy plotlines that almost begin to beg for viewers.

Knowing Damn Right...
I'm pretty sure this is a reference to a Jerky Boys prank call, where they impersonate a foreign man named "Kerpahl". He accuses another foreign neighbor of kicking his dog, and continually proclaims, rather scornfully, 'YOU KNOW DAMN RIGHT!' through a thick east Indian accent.

Joining the Dark Side...
A Star Wars reference.
Loving It...
Obviously the opposite to "Hating it..."
Hating It...
A phrase used by a small group of Colorado University alumni and dropouts to express a foreshadowing of bad things to come to someone else who has wronged the one who utters it, primarily as a warning of impending revenge. Also can be used to indicate when revenge has taken place, if the revenge is not immediately attributable to the source.
Example: Alice walked away from her screen while logged in with her main Mutant character in Tocado. Bob sneaks over and starts offering free cybers to anyone who will listen. Alice catches Bob in the act and pronounces, "Hating it." This signifies to Bob he will at some undetermined point in the future become a victim of Alice's revenge.
The revenge can be immediate (Alice proceeds to punch Bob in the arm and give him a wedgie), or can play out indirectly later (Bob is finishing a bowl of Froot Loops for breakfast. Alice comes along and offers him another bowl. Bob says, "No Thanks." Alice says, "Are you sure?" and proceeds to remove a dirty sock she cleverly placed in the bottom of the Froot Loop box, then shook vigourously, on the day of the original offense. Alice then states matter of factly, "Hating it.").

Punching Kittens...
Developer inside joke... (if any of u dev's read this please fill it in)
Refers to another game development company that will only be known as "The Big Purple J". During its final death throws, the last big meeting was announced which all the devs knew was the big layoff. As we trudged into the conference area where this meeting was being held, one of the programmers said "This is going to be more fun than punching kittens," which elicited a dirty look from the studio manager who happened to walking by.
And now you know.

Braking for Hawtpants
A reference to a popular fan movie for Star Wars Galaxies in which the viewer sees Boba Fett's Slave 1 ship fly off into space with the bumper sticker 'I brake for hawtpants'. Hawtpants being speedo like attire for characters in the game.
Pushing the button
Possibly a "Men In Black" reference from which Agent K and Agent J get into their car. A button (which activates a turbo jet mode) appears on the shift handle and Agent K explicitly tells Agent J to "do not push the button, never push the button" or something to that extent.
War Games/Cold War: In the movie War Games a Soldier in silo pulls gun and tells the other soldier "Push the button Frank." The button here will send a 50 kiloton nuclear warhead into Russia. During the cold war the President of the United States had the power to "push the button" and start all out nuclear war. Today, we have a much less dangerous possibility of "nukular" war. Possibly involving microwave ovens.
Or Ren & Stimpy: REN: Now, listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? DON'T TOUCH IT! It's the HISTORY eraser button, you fool! STIMPY: So what'll happen? REN: That's just it! We don't know! Maayyybeee something bad?... Mayyybeee something good! I guess we'll never know! 'Cause you're going to guard it! You won't touch it, will you?
